Blowing my mind…

So I’ve been spending a lot of time reading current education research on learning and teaching in the past few weeks. Trying to resolve where I stand on the educational spectrum of Progressive < --> Traditional classrooms —

Chris Lehmann’s comments on Old ideas are new again… are amazing. My feelings about students being active participants in their learning are reflected in all of the research. The blend of different teaching and learning techniques need to be shared with students so they understand what we are doing (at age appropriate levels). Classroom teachers must be ever evolving — every changing, to fit the needs of their current students who are ever evolving and ever changing….

Technology enables this in ways never before imagined — we need to have access and bring the students and teachers along — Just as Dewey discussed almost 100 years ago — building a stronger democracy for the future.
